UE “Geoinformation Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”

The Scientific and Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise Geoinformation Systems was founded following the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus ordinance in 1996. The enterprise is a legal entity of the NAS of Belarus and belongs to the Division of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics.

The enterprise’s primary goal is scientific research in remote sensing, information and telecommunication technologies, systems design, and geoinformation systems. The company has also developed the information systems for processing satellite data to detect fire spots and flooding, develop and forecast anthropic and natural disasters, control soil fertility and manage forests, predict crop yields, and forecast weather.

These information systems are actively used by the Ministry of Disasters Management, the Republican Center of Hydrometeorology, Belgosles Republican Unitary Enterprise, and other territorial services.
