S7 Space was founded in 2016 and is the first Russian commercial company to provide a full launch service for spacecraft using “Zenit” launch vehicles. Another focus for the company’s activities includes the operation of a Sea Launch spaceport (launch from the equator, providing technical readiness of the operated equipment), providing launches of launch vehicles (order for production and delivery of launch vehicles, blocks DM-SL, payload fairing, and other components), coordination of work and cooperation on launch projects.
In May 2022, the company ceased due to the sanctions and fired 80 people. Following the lack of fundraising opportunities, the enterprise’s project to create a light-class carrier rocket has been suspended. Still, S7 Space continues some activities, for instance, working with additive and welding technologies.
