Scientific and Production Association Molniya was founded in 1976 as the head enterprise of the Ministry of Aviation Industry of the USSR to develop a glider for the Buran reusable orbital spacecraft. The enterprise was established on the basis of three design bureaus: Molniya, Burevestnik, and Experimental Machine Building Plant.
Since 2021, Molniya has been a part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation. The company is now one of the largest Russian aerospace and defense enterprises.
The company’s main activities include developing and manufacturing aerospace equipment, producing hypersonic missiles, and repairing and reconstructing military equipment. The enterprise also has a laboratory and testing center for spacecraft and components testing.
