The company was founded in 1958 under the Decree of the CPSU Central Committee and USSR Cabinet as a research and development center and production plant for designing and manufacturing gyroscopic devices in the Ural region. From 1958 to 1962, the company was a subsidiary of the Research institute №2 NII-944 (Research institute of applied mechanics, named after academician V.I. Kuznetsov in Moscow) under the State Committee of the USSR cabinet on shipbuilding. It comprised an electromechanical research institute and a pilot factory. Today, the company develops and manufactures gyroscopic devices for control systems of various missiles and multi-purpose space equipment.
Main products include gyroscopic attitude controllers and rate gyro packages for launch vehicle Soyuz-2, anti-ship missiles Yakhont, BrahMos, and gyroscopic devices for missile complex Iskander.
